Housing & In-Home Support Services

Vesta provides housing and in-home support services at the Forestville, Lanham, Odenton and Waldorf locations. Housing is provided in the form of town homes, apartments and single-family homes.  Each consumer is provided with his/ her own bedroom.  All properties are furnished though each person is encouraged to bring personal possessions of importance to them, and to decorate the living units according to personal taste. Assistance with roommate matching, shared household management, sharing of resources, and conflict resolution are provided through Vesta staff.


All referrals or requests for residential services must come through the Mental Health Authority in the county of residence. This link will help you locate your county's Core Service Agency in order to complete a residential application.


Services provided through the Residential Program are flexible and tailored to the individual’s rehabilitation needs. These services include:

  • medication monitoring
  • linkage with medical services
  • building social support networks
  • transportation
  • in-home skills training
  • roommate matching
  • conflict resolution
  • house meetings and chore monitoring
  • NA/AA meetings
  • substance abuse support groups
  • crisis intervention

Level of In-Home Support

The level of support provided to individuals will vary according to need. Intensity of contact ranges from weekly visits to 24-hour in-home staff support.

Supported Housing

Vesta also offers supported housing services in which individuals with mental illness can live in apartments or single-family homes within the constraints of their budget. Services include roommate matching, assistance in shopping for furniture and other basic housing needs, and assistance in setting up utilities and negotiating leases. Staff will typically make house visits at least weekly. For more information about supported housing please call the center located in your county.
